Russell Stall
Council Member At Large
University of Kentucky Coldstream Research Campus
Day 2 : Lunch & Orientation
Biography
Eighteen years ago Russell Stall returned to his hometown of Greenville. Before coming home, he spent 16 years in Washington, DC and then Atlanta. The Greenville he left as a graduate of Greenville High School in 1978 was nothing like the Greenville he returned to, and is certainly nothing like the Greenville today.
Greenville has become the envy of communities throughout the country because of intentional, visionary planning, and engaged leadership.
Stall has dedicated much of his life to serving Greenville. In 1978, as a senior at Greenville High, he served as the Youth Coordinator for Max Heller’s congressional campaign. At that time, he made a pledge to Max that one day he would run for office. Since returning to Greenville in 1998, he has been deeply committed to the improvement of this community he cares so deeply about.
Twelve years ago he created Greenville Forward, a nonprofit organization responsible for facilitating and shepherding a community vision for Greenville. Focusing on creating a Greenville that is a learning community, creative, connected, green, innovative, healthy, and inclusive, Greenville Forward built relationships and connections within the community that continue to make Greenville one of the most livable communities in the country.
